Garden With A Luxurious Terrace

We designed the garden for a non-traditional house that is partially sunken into the ground. The aim was to connect the interior with the exterior and create a pleasant, natural environment. We started by replacing the existing interlocking paving around the house with ceramic paving, which we also extended to allow the living area of the interior to flow seamlessly into the exterior. We also enhanced this effect with the swimming pool (8 × 3.5 m), which is lined with ceramic tiles, creating a unified look with the surrounding space. To ensure that the paved area is not too dominant, we designed a wooden terrace in the lounge seating area. We cut a hole in the terrace to plant a tree, which will provide shade over time and naturally complete the atmosphere. The pool is surrounded by plantings on both sides, giving it a more natural look. A wooden pier leads to the pool through the plantings to the sauna.
From the sauna there is a pleasant view of the water area through the plantings and birch grove. We have positioned the sauna so that it is generally ‘wrapped’ in greenery, ensuring that it does not detract from the appearance of the garden. We used hornbeam fences at the bottom of the site to separate and screen off the living areas, while leaving plenty of space for a lawn for the children. We placed the outdoor kitchen further away from the house, facing the back of the house. We used concrete footings between the garden beds, interspersed with groundcover perennials. In the birch grove, we chose stone edging to blend in with the surrounding nature. The convenient access to the upper part of the garden was solved with a concrete staircase, the steps of which are placed differently so as not to look too massive. We chose dry-loving plants in the surroundings to visually soften the staircase. The overall requirement of the clients was minimalism and clean lines, which we managed to meet. The garden thus looks minimalistic, but at the same time natural and harmonious.
