Kolbenova park is a new residential area right next to Vysočanská metro station. In several stages, a harmoniously arranged complex of six apartment buildings will be built in its own green park, which is the dominant element of the entire project. Once completed, Kolbenova park will offer approximately 1000 modern apartments with well thought-out layouts from 1 + kk to 4 + kk, mostly with terraces and balconies.
The design is based on the legacy and ideas of the great inventors Emil Kolben, Nikola Tesla and T. A. Edison. We were inspired by their forward thinking, imagination and courage to try new things. We use simple solutions in our design that use common laws of physics to create interesting effects. We work with the sun’s rays and the colorful shadow and dynamics of water. We are challenged by lighting effects and LED installations. Human scale and maximum usability of the space were our principles when creating the concept. The layout respects both the privacy of local residents and users of their own front gardens, as well as the community life in the residential parts of the courtyard. We have imaginatively divided the courtyard into the main promenade area, the communal living areas and the private gardens. The promenade, which runs through the centre of the courtyard, brings water and light features and attractive furnishings for all generations. For a quality stay on hot summer days, we use water to cool down in the form of splashes in the pavement and misters that are placed on the main axis. We install coloured LED strips in the paving of the main promenade, which are attractive in the evening and for the view from above.
On the main axis, we placed three pergolas with coloured transparent coverings that cast colourful shadows in shades of yellow, green and red on the places of residence. We also match the furnishings in the same shades. The reference to history is represented in holographic form by three projectors. The courtyard allows for a pleasant stay under the canopy of trees that bring seasonal variability to the courtyard. The abundance of trees, climbers and the addition of greenery to paved areas is a major theme for us.
